Kathy Garrett, MD, CPE

Dr. Garrett is a board director, healthcare leader, and C-level physician executive with expertise in strategy, governance, compliance, and crisis management.  She is a collaborative leader with extensive experience in P&L oversight, joint venture development/integration and business transformation. She has served as Chairman of the Board for several organizations, as well as a Member of the Executive Committee, Investment Committee, and Finance/Audit Committee.

She is the former CEO of a $35M private medical practice with P&L responsibility, growing revenue and profitability through operational transformation, joint venture creation with a focus on risk management while stabilizing the practice following leadership crisis in a rapidly changing healthcare environment and established the Compliance Committee. She also spearheaded a joint venture with Orlando Health to acquire and build outpatient imaging centers and oversaw the Management Committee of the joint venture. Prior to running the business, Dr. Garrett spent her career at the practice as a Partner and Physician.

Dr. Garrett currently serves on the Board of Directors of Orlando Health, a regional hospital system with $7B in total assets, advising on strategy, M&A, and capital expenditures. Additionally, she serves on the board of a hospital foundation, providing strategic guidance and stewardship of an $154M investment portfolio and fundraising and serves on the board of Quest Inc., a nonprofit serving disabled adults and children in Central Florida and Tampa regions.

She is a former board director of the Florida Board of Medicine (appointed by the Governor of Florida), serving one year as Chairman of the Board, as well as the Medical Center Radiology Group, Federation of State Medical Boards and United Cerebral Palsy of Central Florida. 

Dr. Garrett completed residencies in Pediatrics and Radiology and a Fellowship in Pediatric Radiology, all at the University of Cincinnati Hospital and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. She earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Cincinnati Medical School and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Brown University.
